Here are a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding SO LE HI KID CARE. If you have any other questions, feel free to call or e-mail us and we'd be happy to help you.

Q: Do you offer day care for Kindergarten students?
A: Yes, our program does include a session for kindergarten students from noon until 4pm. Kindergarten students may register for the AM(6:30-9) slot and the PM(4-6) slot as well. We do not offer care for students who attend school in a PM kindergarten session.

Q: Does KID CARE have a summer program?
A: Yes, we do offer care during the summer. Weekly themes are chosen and activities are planned around those themes.  KID CARE does close for one entire week each summer when St. James has their Vacation Bible School. Dates for this week do vary but we make every effort to announce the specific date at least 6 months in advance.

Q: Does KID CARE accept children receiving subsidized care?
A: Yes, our day care is contracted with Lehigh County to offer care to children enrolled in the subsidized care program.

Q: Can my child do homework at KID CARE?
A: Yes, children have the opportunity to complete their homework at day care in a separate room setting. A staff member is always present to offer supervision and assistance to those who may need it.

Q: Do you provide breakfast at KID CARE?
A: Although KID CARE does not provide breakfast, children who arrive before 8 AM are given the opportunity to eat their breakfast at day care. Milk money is collected monthly from those who choose to eat breakfast at Kid Care, but these children bring their own cereal. We do supply the cereal bowls and silverware. We also have a microwave and toaster available for those who prefer a warm breakfast.

Q: What are KID CARE's hours?
A: We open at 6:30 each morning and close at 6:00pm when school is not in session. On a normal school day, hours are 6:30-9:00am. We then reopen at 11:30am and close at 6:00pm.

Q: When can I register my child for KID CARE?
A: Registration is done annually during the month of August. Because our slots fill quickly, you should call several months in advance to be guaranteed a spot.

Q: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes, each year a fee of $25 per child (maximum $50 per family) is collected to cover registration costs. This also covers the group accident insurance plan that KID CARE carries for every child registered in the program.

Q: Is SO LE HI KID CARE a state-licensed program?
A: Yes, we are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare. Our program is inspected annually and a copy of our current license is always posted at the center.
